How can forgetfulness, the absence or the actual disappearance of memories, be metamorphosed?

In a historical period where one of the greatest concerns of our day is the increasing production of garbage and its destiny, this project aims to immortalize, through artistic creation, elements destined to be abandoned or whose destiny we no longer remember.

The method chosen for this production was to transform into protagonists the left-over materials, mostly authentic, used in other artistic projects such as cuts, molds and negatives. These spontaneous elements, born without purpose, have been rescued from their oblivion and transformed into brand new compositions through metamorphosis.

Some characteristic of their previous “lives” such as shapes, colors or textures have been maintained as proof of their physical preexistence.

Nevertheless, recycling is only a vehicle to reach the final result. The main goal is to bring to life the concept of metempsychosis and to illustrate Platonic myths about fundamental questions of human existence.

Without any intent to prove or disprove beliefs, the project contains works which have unfolded as my personal visual, artistic response to these hypotheses. It is but one response amongst an infinity of possibilities.

From a philosophical point of view, these recovered elements no longer have the same value or the same destiny of their previous lives. Once “reincarnated”, new titles and functions have been assigned to them. The same could happen to the remains or pieces of memory: they come to light in a new context, in a new life and to a new purpose.

The work underwent an evolutionary process where, from the activity of “recycling with a philosophical purpose”, a new graphical language was established and used in the production of the new works. These newly conceived “non-shapes”, strengthen the concept that all creatures or ideas, even the seemingly trivial and unimportant ones, are endowed with beauty and interest.
